MEWP LOLER Inspection (Thorough Examination)
Under current Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER
1998) powered access equipment and accessories that are used for lifting
people must undergo a Thorough Examination at least every 6 months (every
12 months for other lifting equipment) or at intervals determined in an
examination scheme set up by a competent person. Unscheduled or more
frequent Thorough Examination must be carried out in exceptional
circumstances e.g. accidental damage, major repair or modification, being out
use for long periods of time, extensive use or exposure to harsh environments.
MEWP LOLER Inspections (Thorough Examinations) must be performed by an
impartial competent person with the necessary skills, knowledge and
experience.
At Alfa Access Services all our engineers are IPAF CAP card holders, certified
by the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) – the world authority in
powered access.
Did you know that even small movements at ground level can lead to a person being catapulted out of the
basket? Wearing full body safety harness with an adjustable lanyard at the shortest workable length is
essential when working from a boom type powered access platforms. This applies to various types of cherry
pickers, articulated boom lifts, tracked access platforms, spider lifts and van/truck/trailer-mounted MEWPs.
Regular inspection and care of harnesses and lanyards is mandatory, please refer to manufacturer’s
recommendations. Our engineers are fully qualified to carry out 6-monthly Recorded Harness and Lanyard
Inspection, which can be tied in with the LOLER Inspection of your machines.
Recorded Harness and Lanyard Inspection
We also offer Detailed Ladder /Step Ladder Inspections and Forklift Truck LOLER Inspections.
IPAF CAP (Competent Assessed Persons) programme offers documented evidence that engineers are
competent to plan, manage and carry out Thorough Examinations of powered access equipment.
We can carry out LOLER Inspections at your premises or on site anywhere in the UK and issue all necessary
documentation. You will receive a copy of On-Site Work Report, a weatherproof LOLER sticker for your
access platform and a PDF Certificate of Thorough Examination (laminated hard copy is available upon
request at no extra cost). We will set up a LOLER Safety File for each of your machines to record all
procedures, inspections, servicing, repairs and Thorough Examinations performed by us.
We will notify you in advance when your next inspection is due and book an appointment for an agreed date
to ensure you comply with the law.
The cost of the LOLER Inspection (Thorough Examination) depends on the complexity of your lifting
equipment, location and any special requirements (out of hours visits are available). We believe we are very
competitive, and there are discounts available if we examine more than one machine.
We LOLER test Teupen, Genie, ELS Lift, Haulotte, Niftylift, ATN, Skyjack, Denka, Platform Basket, Bravi, JLG,
CMC, Upright / Snorkel, Versalift, Terex, Manitou, Omme, Bluelift, CTE, Aerial, Liftlux, Hinowa, Oil & Steel, PB
